We loved this campground. It's clean, has lots of trees to keep direct sunlight from heating up trailer, and there are fun activities within walking distance. We enjoyed the pool, kayaking, mini golf, hiking, playgrounds, and disc golf (some extra fees, but nominal). It's a great location to DC and was a fun vacation on a bay with easy access to sightseeing in the Capitol.
Workers at the park store are friendly and helpful. Nice wooded lots. The lots on the inside of the loops are fairly level and good for RV's. We stayed the week of June 25, 2017 and it was quiet and peaceful.
Our family is currently traveling this beautiful country via RV style, and have been RV'ing for many years. Therefore, we have an idea between high-standard qualities and poor quality. We enjoyed our time at Pohick. Campground includes many amenities; hiking trails, frisbee golf, boat ramp, fishing, picnic areas and much more. We utilized this campground to visit Washington DC, taking the local train which was only 15mins from the park. Only a couple sites offer direct sight of the sky for satellite TV. Since we didn’t have a roof mounted satellite, we were able to move our dish through the trees. Our site included picnic table, fire pit and bbq. Our site was level and as many sites, surrounded by trees. Our Verizon phones were able to get a 4g signal from our site. No pull through sites, and some sites are not big rig friendly maneuvering in and out of. Campground within few miles of gas stations, restaurants, mall, movie theater, freeway access and grocery stores. This state park provides a few full service sites.
Very peaceful wooded area, clean restrooms and laundry. They pickup trash and recylables daily between 11 and noon. Friendly staff and easy to take train or metro in area to Washington DC. Big rig friendly.
Great park in the D.C. area! Easy to get in and out, super friendly staff. Great for kids, never a far walk from bath house and the playground. The pirates cove water park is right next door and campers get a discount, 16 bucks for our family of 4. We plan to come back when we are in the area.
